Warrior Dog Foundation

Hello Lower School!

It’s hard to believe we are heading into our last week before Christmas break. It seems every year goes by faster than the last! As we navigate our way through this holiday season (filled with checklists, parties, out of town guests, baking, cleaning, travel, shopping etc.) I hope you will find a moment to be still, and reflect on all the good in your life. A recent homily I heard encouraged people to do three things this Advent: to love more, to forgive more, and to show more patience. As I listened to this, I began thinking of our students and how quickly they make friends, forgive transgressions, and help one another without hesitation. There is so much to learn, and admire, from the young. I hope that all of us can be so enlightened with the joyful heart of a child. On behalf of all lower school faculty and staff, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

St. Nick’s
The Lower School St. Nicholas Show was a hit! I’m so proud of our kids. It’s wonderful to see hard work and preparation pay off. I hope all of you were able to attend the performance, but if not, we have posted some great pics on our FB page – go check it out! Special thanks to Ms. Allen and Mrs. O’Meara for making it all possible. All of our students looked and sounded amazing!

Fee Dress
Our fee dress fundraiser was a HUGE success! K-4 alone raised $266.33 in one day. Team Trees won over some votes, but the majority went to the Warrior Dog Foundation. Together, we decided to allocate most of the funds to the Warrior Dog Foundation, with a smaller donation going to Team Tress. Look for another fee dress day opportunity in the spring! Thank you to all who participated.

January Conferences and Progress Reports
We will be holding conferences again in January, from the 13th-24th. During these conferences we will be discussing your child’s strengths, challenges, and setting specific goals for the end of the year. Progress reports will be given to you at conferences. We look forward to meeting with you!

First Grade Christmas Show (12.18)
This Wednesday at 2:00 first grade will be performing their Christmas show in the chapel. All are welcome.

Relaxed Dress Thursday (12.19)
This Thursday is a relaxed dress day for all grades K-8.

Las Posadas Friday (12.20)
Our Advent service will begin at 10:30 in front of the chapel. Students will be reenacting the journey of Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem for the birth of Jesus Christ. All are welcome. It’s a beautiful service!

No After Care Friday – Friendly Reminder!
This Friday is a half day. Please make arrangements for your chid to be picked up at 12:00. There will be no after care available. Thank you!

See you tomorrow.

Warm regards,
Ms. Hart

Hello Lower School!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break. I spent a lot of time with family and friends, and reflected on all the blessings in my life. I continue to be grateful for St. Michael’s and all of you, our wonderful families. I am also incredibly thankful for our magnificent faculty and staff, especially the classroom teachers!

Canned Food Drive
Thank you for all the non-perishable and monetary donations for the food drive. We collected a total of 6,575 items (food and money combined) to exceed our school wide goal. Very exciting!!

Holiday Giving Program
This year, St. Michaels has decided to move our holiday giving program to April! It will be a “Christmas in April” of sorts. More information to come in March.

Renaissance Testing
Our students will be participating in the second round of Renaissance testing over the next two weeks. We will use the results to help drive instruction, and set individual goals for students moving forward.

St. Nicholas Program
Our K-4 students will be performing on December 13th from 2:00-3:00 in the student center (gym). Please have your child dress their best for the show! I strongly suggest arriving no later than 1:30 to find a parking spot and a seat. We are all really looking forward to it!!

Fee Dress!
On December 11th Lower School will be joining Upper School in a Fee ($2) Dress Day! If your child brings in $2 on the 11th, he/she will be permitted to wear free dress that day. Lower School will be putting all money raised towards tithing. We will be choosing one of following charities to support this year:
1. Warrior Dog Foundation –  https://warriordogfoundation.org/
2. Team Trees – https://teamtrees.org/

December 20th – Half Day
Just a reminder that Friday, December 20th, will be a half day and we will dismiss at 12:00. This is the last day before Christmas break, therefore, After Care will not be available. If you are interested in attending the Advent service (Los Posadas) it will begin at 10:30 in the church. All are welcome to attend.

Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!
